2012 Fiber Retreat and Class Schedule Natural Dye Class An introduction to using locally growing plants as natural dye material. We will spend the morning gathering plants and flowers to use as dye material. Our dye baths will brew while we enjoy lunch on the porch. We will also learn how to wet felt the pads to make them more durable. We will card some fun spinning batts and then learn the secrets of successful spindling. Needle felting and wet felting techniques will both be incorporated into your mural. We provide all materials-you provide a family and creative energy! (Families may consist of 2 to 3 people, one of which must be an adult. They need not be related and could be friends, grandparent and grandchild, mom and dad, or one parent with a child. Each family creates one mural.) For full day classes, please bring a bag lunch unless lunch is provided. Cancellation Policy Class fees are non-refundable unless class space can be filled with another student. We reserve the right to cancel classes within 15 days prior to class if there are not enough students enrolled. All fees will then be returned or applied towards another class. | Vermont Weaver's Retreat (June-September) Stay three nights in our Bed & Breakfast, and have full access to our fiber studio in our 150 year old barn. Spend three glorious, uninterrupted days at a loom working on your own project. We provide a comfortable, elegant bedroom, full country breakfast, afternoon snack, loom and warping board. You provide the yarn for your project and weaving expertise. You will have a choice of an antique barn loom, 22 inch table top loom, or 45 inch floor loom. This retreat is appropriate for experienced weavers only. $420/weaver with shared bath $585/weaver with private bath (plus VT rooms & meals tax) Each weaver may bring one additional non-weaving adult free of charge. Summer Sheep Camp (ages 7-12) July 9-13, 2013 Monday-Friday 10am to 2pm Children engage in rural farm life helping with chores and learning how to care for animals. Afternoon craft time in our big old barn includes carding wool, spinning, and felting. Bring your own lunch for a picnic in the meadow. In leu of "Mom's Camp" this summer, we will invite parents to sit on the porch and relax or allow us to set you up with a pre-warped loom and spend your day independantly weaving on your own scarf or placemat. $170/child Parent-$50 weaving fee (for scarves) $70 weaving fee (for placemat) Email to register or to inquire about overnight accomodations for the week of camp. |
