| VT Grand View Farm is hosting a Saturday filled with fiber fun! Spend a Saturday on a hillside sheep farm in Vermont, knitting & spinning with friends, taking fiber classes, watching demonstrations and enjoying the sheep and goats. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Learn about different fiber animals and how the shepherds and farmers care for them. Meet with other fiber fanatics from around the state and spend the day knitting, spinning and weaving. See demonstrations of skirting fleeces, spinning wool into yarn, natural dyeing, rug hooking, felting, and weaving. |

FREE 2:00pm-3:00pm Handpainting Yarn with Kim Goodling of VT Grand View Farm. Learn how to create a colorful skein of yarn by handpainting. Material fee $17.00 includes a skein of yarn and dye. 10:30am-3:30pm Weaving Workshop with Adele Bassett If you’ve always wanted to try your hand at weaving on a floor loom, here’s your chance. Weave a small table runner, while learning basic technique, loom operation and weaving terminology. All equipment and materials, plus an informational packet, provided. Materials and equipment fee: $20. Ongoing on the hour. All workshops are free to attend, however, each participant must purchase supplies for each workshop. List of Artists/Teachers/Shepherds ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Emily Goodling of Vermont Fairies Emily designs and creates dolls and fairies out of all natural fibers and sells them worldwide. Kim Goodling of VT Grand View Farm Kim is shepherd and fiber arts teacher. She teaches classes on dyeing, felting, and spinning and sells Yarn CSA shares. Adele Bassett-Professional Weaver Adele was introduced to weaving in Colorado and New Mexico, studying southwestern tapestry techniques privately and at the Taos Institute of Art. After moving to Philadelphia , she developed an interest in rep weave, exhibited and sold her work, and taught a variety of weaving classes for the Philadelphia Guild of Handweavers. In 2010, she received the Complex Weavers Award from the Philadelphia Guild. She currently weaves at her studio in Thetford Center , Vermont . Terry Miller of Snowshoe Farm Alpacas Valerie Mazzarella of Green Mountain Wee Woolies Valerie, shepherd and artist, designs and creates Waldorf style toys for children. She sells them from her online store. |
