AgEx Shares allow you to have hands-on farm experiences so bring your working clothes!

Frequently Asked Questions
How does this differ from just booking a night in your B&B?
We give our shareholders our undivided time and attention. You will have actual hands on time with
us learning, working, and assisting.
What is it like in Vermont during the months of March and April?
One can never predict the exact weather during these months. There may be snow, mud, or rain.
Do I need 4-wheel drive to get to your farm during these months?
We do not personally own a 4-wheel drive vehicle. Front wheel drive and snow tires are a must for
winter and early spring travel as well as snow/mud boots!
Are children allowed to participate?
We ask that you speak with us first before purchasing for a child. In most cases, yes, older children
are able to participate.

~Assist with sheep shearing & skirting fleeces
Are you curious about how the wool gets off of the sheep? Do you wonder what we do with the fleece
once it is sheared? This is the AgEx share for you! We invite you to stay at our farm for one night during
our shearing week. Watch our sheep shearing and learn what happens to the fleeces once off the sheep.
We shear one day in March (usually within the first two weeks of March). Once our shearing date is set, we
will notify you. If you are unable to come for the actual shearing, you may come afterwards and we will teach
you how to skirt a fleece and package it for the mill. (On a rare occasion, our shearing date gets canceled
and rescheduled due to weather conditions. )

~Experience Vermont sugarin' & learn how to tap maple trees
Have you ever wondered how Vermont Pure Maple Syrup is made?  We invite you to stay at our farm for
one night during sugarin' season. We will teach you how to tap a maple tree, the old fashioned way. If
temperatures cooperate, you will help us empty sap buckets and boil it into 100% sweet maple syrup. You
will go home with your own pint of our very own syrup.  This share will be redeemable between mid-March
to the end of March.

~Spend a day in our Fiber Studio
Have you ever wanted to spend a day sitting at a loom weaving, or spend time learning how to spin yarn,
make a braided rug, or learning how to create felt with wool? We invite you to stay one night on our farm and
spend a full day in or fiber studio. If you decide to weave, we will provide you with a pre-warped loom and
yarn to use. By the end of the day, you will have a cozy scarf to take home with you.  You may also choose
to spend a day creating colorful spinning batts and then learn to spin them into yarn. You will go home with
fiber to spin at home and a drop spindle of your own! These AgEx shares may be redeemed anytime

~Capture nature's beauty learning how to use natural dyes
Did you know that you can use many wildflowers as natural dyes? Every summer I collect flowers that grow
in our fields and along the road and use them as natural dyes for our yarn. We invite you to stay at our farm
for one night and spend the next day exploring our meadows, harvesting flowers, and dyeing yarn! You will
go home with several mini skeins of naturally dyed Romney wool yarn and the knowledge to create your own
natural dyes. This AgEx share can be redeemed between the months of June, July, and August.
